Year 8

In Year 8, students will continue to study courses from the previous year and at the end of the year will select elective subjects for Years 9 and 10.

Getting involved

Being involved in extracurricular activities in high school is a great way to explore your interests, develop new skills, and make lasting connections with others. Whether it’s joining a sports team, participating in musical or dramtic performances, or special events, extracurriculars offer opportunities to grow outside the classroom. They help build leadership, teamwork, and time management skills, which are valuable in future careers. Plus, they provide a fun and supportive environment to balance academic pressures and enhance your high school experience.

VALID Science 8

All Year 8 students in NSW sit for the Validation of Assessment 4 Learning & Individual Development (VALID) test in Term 4. This is an online interactive, multimedia assessment called VALID Science 8. Parents will receive a report of your child's achievement in Term 1 of Year 9.

Choosing electives

In Years 9 and 10, students have the opportunity to select elective subjects that align with their interests and future aspirations. Kellyville High School offers a diverse range of department-approved elective courses and students will be provided with the necessary information at Subject Selection.

When selecting electives, it's important to consider personal interests, potential career paths, and the prerequisites for senior secondary courses. Engaging with teachers, career advisors and parents can provide valuable guidance in making informed choices.
